Inside Out 2

With the premiere of "Inside Out 2" approaching, discover 5 curiosities about the first movie that can enrich your experience even more!

1.The director was inspired by his own daughter to create Riley

Did you know that the director was inspired by his own daughter to create Riley in "Inside Out"? Pete Docter revealed that he couldn't fully identify with the protagonist at first, so he found inspiration in the experiences of his daughter, Elie Docter. Like Riley, Elie was a vibrant and energetic child in her early years. However, as she grew up, her personality evolved into a more reserved and modest young woman, reflecting Riley's emotional development throughout the movie.

2.The movie would have a villain in the early versions

In the first versions of the plot of "Funny Mind", there was a villain called "Gloom". He was responsible for creating chaos in Riley's mind. But in the end, the character's role was replaced by the collapse of the Personality Islands. The decision was made because "Gloom" was too close to being a personification of depression, and since the idea was not to bring this emotion into the feature, the character was removed.

3.The Family Island pays homage to Disney.

The director of the animation, Pete Docter, is openly a huge Disney fan. That's why he ensured that the Personality Island representing Riley's family is approximately the same size as Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

According to the American magazine People, well-known voice actors have lent their voices to the new characters, such as Maya Hawke, from the series Stranger Things, who will be the voice of Anxiety. Phyllis Smith, from the series The Office, repeats the voice of Sadness. Ayo Edebiri, who played a role in the opening scene of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, will also be the voice of Envy. Actress Adèle Exarchopoulos, who won the Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival at the age of 19, will be Boredom. A voice actress in several Disney and Pixar films, including Ralph Breaks the Internet, Toy Story 4 and Soul, June Squibb will represent the voice of Nostalgia.

5.New emotions in the next Disney movie

Other emotions would be released in the second movie. During a press conference this year, the film's producer Mark Nielson revealed that, for example, there were versions of "Amusing Minds 2" with Guilt and Jealousy, but that he considered them "too dark": "That wasn't fun to watch. That wasn't fun. It was too heavy. You know when you see a good movie and you think, 'Man, that was a great movie,'" he said.

6.Riley is Based on the Director's Daughter

Some of the inspiration for Riley's character came from Pete Docter's own daughter, Elie. These included a shared birthday, and being fans of the band One Direction. Docter wanted to explore how she turned from an outgoing child into a shy tween through the film, and also included some of his own childhood memories.

7.Vacation Anxiety: Maya Hawke's Casting Story

During the search for voice actors, Maya Hawke was approached. Coincidentally, while Director Kelsey Mann was vacationing with his family at Walt Disney World, they managed to schedule her audition via Zoom from a backstage office behind EPCOT's Mexico Pavilion. Mann was so moved during the audition that he confessed to shedding a tear or two. Impressed, Mann immediately called Producer Mark Nielson, and Hawke landed the role of Anxiety.

8.The Console In Headquarters Is Related To Riley's Age

When Riley was born, the console was very small and had only one button. All it took was Joy pushing the button to make Riley laugh and smile then Sadness pushing it to make Riley cry. Then as she got older the console got bigger and had more buttons and levers. By the end of the film we see an even bigger console being installed, complete with a puberty warning light.
