Over the years, literature, cinema, series, films and all science fiction have shown us a number of extremely intelligent characters, some of whom even challenge the human intellect. Here are some of the most intelligent characters that have appeared in fiction, and a few honorable mentions.

1. L - "Death Note"

L Lawliet is one of the protagonists of the manga and anime series "Death Note". Known only by his pseudonym, L is an extremely intelligent and eccentric detective who has the highest IQ of any anime character in existence. L is well known for his deductive skills and his ability to think outside the box to solve complex cases, making him not only one of the characters, but also one of the most intelligent and charismatic detectives in fiction.

2.Sherlock Holmes - "Sherlock"

The detective Sherlock Holmes, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is known for having an extremely extraordinary scientific intelligence and deductive skills. Even with so many books, films and TV series out there, only Sherlock Holmes manages to stand out when it comes to solving heinous crimes. He has such an insane mind that none of us could keep up with his logical reasoning.

3.Spock - "Star Trek"

The Vulcan Spock, played by Leonard Nimoy, personifies logic and reason in the "Star Trek" series. He is the science officer of the USS Enterprise ( NCC-1701 ) and uses his almost supernatural intelligence to solve problems in the galaxies and make rational decisions in crisis situations. Despite the fact that he is cold, insensitive and even (perhaps) doesn't show a trace of feeling, he has always been recognized as being brilliant and having an unusual genius in the Star Trek universe.

4.Tony Stark - "Iron Man"

Billionaire, playboy and philanthropist Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, is one of Marvel's greatest science fiction geniuses. To give you an idea, Tony Stark was already a prodigy from the age of 15, highly intellectual and, of course, a millionaire. He graduated from MIT with a degree in Physics and Engineering, but don't worry, those were just some of the other degrees the little prodigy earned. Although he is often arrogant and overbearing, it would be very difficult to maintain a line of reasoning with him, after all, only one genius understands another.

5.Hermione Granger - "Harry Potter"

Despite being born into the muggle (non-wizard) world, Hermione Granger, played by Emma Watson, managed to become the most intelligent witch of her generation in the "Harry Potter" series, so much so that her teachers Minerva McGonagall, Severo Snape and Quirrel (but not Snape) considered her an example of intelligence, discipline, motivation, logic and, of course, courage and the ability to protect her friends out of loyalty. That alone is enough to make it clear that she is one of the most talented witches in the HP universe.

6.Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards) - Marvel Comics

Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards) is one of the founding members of the Fantastic Four in Marvel Comics. He is known for his extremely high genius in the field of science and for being one of the greatest geniuses in the Marvel universe. He has a doctorate in Physics and Engineering, but he also has knowledge of Chemistry, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, all levels of human biology and... Enough! He has a doctorate in everything he wants. He has always been a renowned genius and got his first degree in his teens from the best colleges in the world, including Havard and Columbia (this is where he met Doom and his current wife, Susan).

7. Rick Sanchez - "Rick and Morty"

Rick Sanchez, the protagonist of the animated series "Rick and Morty", is a bumbling, alcoholic scientist with an incomparable intellect. His crazy inventions and inter-dimensional adventures illustrate his genius and his lack of ethical scruples. Despite his controversial nature, Rick is arguably one of the most intelligent and enigmatic characters in modern science fiction.

8.The Doctor - "Doctor Who"

The Doctor, a Time Lord from Gallifrey, is the protagonist of the British science fiction series "Doctor Who". With his vast intelligence and intergalactic knowledge, he travels through time and space in his TARDIS, facing enemies and solving crises on different planets and in different eras. His creative mind and scientific knowledge make him one of the most intelligent and charismatic figures in science fiction.

9.Batman (Bruce Wayne) - DC Comics

Bruce Wayne, American billionaire, playboy, philanthropist and owner of large corporations such as Wayne Enterprises. He has a strong temper and can have a dark and cold personality at times. Despite this, his alter-ego, Batman, is one of DC Comics' most iconic characters and one of the most intelligent heroes in the comic book universe. As well as being a brilliant genius, a master of martial arts and hand-to-hand combat, Batman is a brilliant strategist, able to anticipate and plan his enemies' every move.

10. Doctor Strange (Stephen Strange)

Stephen Strange, better known as Doctor Strange, is one of the most intelligent and skilled characters in the Marvel Universe. Before becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, Strange was a renowned surgeon, known for his exceptional skill and analytical mind. After an accident that damaged his hands and prevented him from continuing his career as a surgeon, Strange embarked on a journey of spiritual discovery in search of a cure. He encountered the Ancient One, a powerful sorcerer, who initiated him into the mystical arts and transformed him into Doctor Strange.
